The project included removing an old Vaillant boiler, tidying the existing pipework and cabling, preparing the wall for a cleaner installation, and fitting a new Worcester Bosch 8000 system boiler with a 500L unvented hot water cylinder.
The system was designed to improve hot water performance, heating efficiency and the overall finish of the installation. As part of the work, the team also upgraded the cold mains and gas supplies, fully flushed the heating system and insulated the pipework throughout.

WLV Plumbing & Heating recently completed a full heating system upgrade in Finchfield, Wolverhampton, replacing an old warm air unit with a brand-new Worcester Bosch 4000 boiler and complete central heating system.

Changes to Building regs Part L in 2018 introduced the “Boiler Plus” requirement that every new Boiler installation must have one of the following four “plus” technologies installed with the new boiler.
The lowest priced option and also most common is a boiler plus level programmable thermostat with load compensation. Load compensation allows the boiler to modulate the flow temperature from the boiler based on the actual room temperature. We usually recommend Honeywell T3R & T6R programmable thermostats.
An outdoor thermostat that modulates the heating flow temperature based on the outdoor temperature. I.e. helping the boiler run slightly cooler when the weather outside is milder.
Normally in the form of a programable thermostat that is connected to the internet and provides automation and optimisation of the heating demand. The most common device in this category is the Google Nest Learning thermostat.
There are not many of these systems in use.

Protecting boilers with magnetic filters has been best practice since the early 2000s.
In the past, boiler protection was usually advisable rather than mandatory. Some manufacturers started offering longer warranties when boilers were fitted with their own magnetic filters, but homeowners could still choose not to have one installed.
Things have now moved on. One of the main changes in the 2022 update to Part L was the use of magnetic filters to help protect heating systems and save fuel.
Lowering carbon emissions matters, but this simple technology can also help prolong the life of the boiler and reduce fuel bills.
