Full Heating System Upgrade – Kingswinford
We recently completed a full heating system upgrade for a homeowner in Kingswinford who was ready to move on from an old, inefficient setup that was taking up space and costing more to run than it should.
The starting point
The property had a wall-mounted boiler in the kitchen, along with a traditional system including header tanks in the loft and a hot water cylinder in the airing cupboard. Not only was this setup outdated, but it was also inefficient and taking up valuable space throughout the home.
The customer wanted something more modern, reliable, and easier to control — with better use of space.
Stripping out the old system
We began by removing the existing boiler from the kitchen, along with all associated pipework. Once removed, we arranged for the wall to be professionally plastered internally and made good externally by repairing the brickwork where the old flue had been.
Up in the loft, we removed both the central heating header tank and hot water tank, fully decommissioning the old system. We also removed the hot water cylinder and pipework from the airing cupboard, creating a clean slate for the new installation.
Installing the new system
With the old system removed, we installed a new gas supply from the garage, routing it safely across the property into the airing cupboard, the new location for the boiler.
We then fitted a Worcester Bosch 4000 combi boiler, a reliable and efficient choice for modern homes. To protect the system and ensure long-term performance, we also installed:
Worcester system filter
Limescale reducer
Shock arrestor
This setup provides the customer with enhanced system protection and a 10-year warranty, offering real peace of mind.
The rear wall of the airing cupboard was also boarded and painted, leaving a clean and tidy finish around the new installation.
Smarter controls and improved efficiency
To bring everything up to modern standards, we installed Hive Active Heating, giving the customer full control over their heating and hot water via smartphone or thermostat.
We also carried out a full system flush, removing any sludge or debris to ensure the new boiler operates at maximum efficiency from day one.
The result
The end result is a fully modern, space-saving heating system with improved efficiency, better control, and a much cleaner look throughout the home.
